The exploration of the boundaries and relationships between painting, drawing, and sculpture are the building blocks of my artwork. The concept of relationships and connections, between all facets of existence, grew out of this exploration and into my mixed media works and collages. The most basic component to any relationship is a connection. For us humans, connecting implies choice. Disconnection is possible, though it’s not always beneficial. In terms of art-viewing, broken connections are incredibly common because of our image-saturated culture. This is natural, but it’s often based on a conscious decision; it’s optional. I present this choice to the viewer with various symbols of connectivity and a network of visual elements that link one work to another. Plugging into a USB port requires deliberate action. Wireless connections are more seamless, but still necessitate a compatible device. The viewer is encouraged to connect to the visual network I’ve created, however it doesn’t guarantee a specific destination, answers, or comprehension - only a record of my exploration and the questions I’ve asked myself about this inherent choice.

In retrospect, I wish I would have had this playing near my work in the BFA show.
I just updated several images from previous posts. I will now add some newer works, too. I hope you enjoy!
